What Sports Does TCU Have?

TCU is a Division I school that offers a variety of sports for students to participate in. The school is home to the Horned Frogs football team, as well as men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and track and field.

Texas Christian University (TCU) is a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision school that competes in the Big 12 Conference. The Horned Frogs have been a member of the conference since 1996, when they were still in the Southwest Conference. TCU has won two national championships, one in 1935 and one in 1938. The Horned Frogs have also won 11 conference championships, the most recent coming in 2014.


TCU has a very successful baseball team! They have won the College World Series 3 times and have been to the tournament 14 times. They have also had 31 players drafted into the MLB, including All-Stars Jake Arrieta and Andrew Cashner.

Men’s Basketball

The TCU men’s basketball team is a NCAA Division I college basketball team that competes in the Big 12 Conference. The team is led by head coach Jamie Dixon and plays its home games at Schollmaier Arena on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.

Women’s Basketball

As of the 2019-2020 school year, TCU has 10 NCAA Division I sports teams for women. These include: basketball, cross country, golf, rifle, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field (indoor and outdoor), and volleyball.

Cross Country

la Cross Country is a sport in which participants race each other over natural terrain, often cross county. It first became popular in England in the early 19th century and has since spread around the world. TCU offers both men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Track and Field

TCU has a strong track and field program, with both men’s and women’s teams. The men’s team has won the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships three times, while the women’s team has won it twice. TCU athletes have also won individual NCAA championships in track and field events.


TCU offers a wide variety of sports, including equestrian. Equestrian is a sport that involves riding horses. It can be done for recreation or competition.

TCU’s equestrian team practices and competes at the John Justin Arena, located on campus. The arena is home to both the men’s and women’s teams.

The equestrian team is open to all students, regardless of experience level. There are several different levels of competition, from novice to experienced.

TCU has both a men’s and women’s golf team. The men’s team has won the NCAA Division I championship four times, in 1954, 1965, 1967, and 1968. The women’s team has won once, in 1988.


The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) sponsors collegiate rifle competitions in the United States, and the Intercollegiate Rifle Club Conference (ICRU) is the collegiate rifle shooting governing body. Rifle shooting is a co-ed sport, with male and female athletes competing against each other.

TCU has a long history of success in collegiate rifle, having won 17 national championships and produced many Olympians.


TCU has both Men’s and Women’s tennis. Both teams practice at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, which is also where they hold their home matches. The Tennis Center has 28 courts (12 lighted), a clubhouse, and locker rooms.
